This lecture will highlight works from one of the largest collections of contemporary Japanese ceramic art in the West.

Speaker: Sonya Rhie Quintanilla, PhD, Curator of Asian Art, The San Diego Museum of Art
In conjunction with the opening of the new gallery displaying sculptures and manuscripts from Indian and Southeast Asian temples, Dr. Quintanilla will contextualize and explain the function of sculpture in ancient South Asian temple settings.

Speaker: Naman Ahuja, Associate Professor of Ancient Indian Art and Architecture, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
Dr. Ahuja will present an introduction to rare ragas and their painted images, with special reference to works in the Museum’s Binney Collection to be exhibited in 2012.
